Why Masculine "Field"?
Molecular biologist, Rupert Sheldrake has popularized the concept of morphic fields. He has also
extended the usage of this concept beyond it's biological origins in
such work as The Sense of Being Stared At, Dogs That Know When Their
Owners Are Coming Home And Other Unexplained Powers of Animals: An Investigation and Natural Grace: Dialogues on Creation, Darkness, and the Soul
in Spirituality and Science. In it's simplest form in Sheldrake's
conceptualization, any activity anywhere in the universe, driving a
car, running a 4 minute mile, creating a new crystal, or using a computer,
once performed, creates a morphic field. Because of this field, once
an activity is performed, it becomes easier for others to perform.
Consider the 4 minute mile. For decades this was the barrier that couldn't
be broken; it was thought that to go beyond this was humanly impossible.
But once broken by Roger Bannister, the British middle-distance runner
who finally achieved the impossible in 1954, it became more
and more frequently surpassed. Within a year of Bannister breaking this
psychological barrier, 37 runners did it, and one year later another
300 runners had done it! Now marathon runners run this impossible rate, mile after mile!
Additionally, once an activity is performed and a field is created,
the field is not limited by time or distance. So a 4 minute mile run in Britain
creates a field that makes it easier in Africa or the United States.
As I explored the work of Sheldrake and Bert
Hellinger, I started to realize that it can be productive to understand Masculinity and Femininity as morphic
fields. The primary characteristic of Femininity is receptivity and of Masculinity, action.
For a man to be effective, he must be able access this field of action!
He must be anchored in the masculinity field! And this anchoring
in the masculine field creates a foundation for effective, powerful
action.
There is only one door into the masculine field; only one key to that door! To explore the effects on a man if he is not soundly achored in the masculine field, if he hasn't walked through that one door, please continue your exploration of Mama's Boys.
